1954 Mille Miglia – Clemente Biondetti watch. A gold cased 36mm Ferrari manual winding chronograph wristwatch by Vetta, circa 1950s. This watch was a gift from Ferrari to commemorate the retirement of the most successful Mille Miglia driver in the history of the event (winner 1938, 1947, 1948, 1949). The case back is inscribed ‘Al Campione del Volante Clemente Biondetti Mille Miglia 1954’ (Clemente Biondetti ‘The Flying Champion’ Mille Miglia 1954). In 1954 Biondetti drove the Ferrari 250 MM Berlinetta (s/n 0276MM) to a 4th place finish in his final MM. The dial has the Ferrari Prancing Horse at 6 o’clock, subsidiary seconds and 30 minute dials, the outer ring with miles per hour markers, Arabic Numerals and hands in gold. This watch is offered together with an original copy of La Gazzetta dello Sport, 1949, outlining Biondetti’s Mille Miglia success. This is a fantastic piece of Ferrari sportscar history.
