This rare vintage original measures over 3 feet tall  (39.5 x 27.5” / 100 x 70cm). It has been linen mounted and is in very good condition but with some minor restoration. The artwork by Mario Puppo (1905 – 1977) features a stylized red GP car (likely a Ferrari or Maserati) exploding through the image.

The 1948 San Remo Grand Prix was a non-Championship voiturette motor race held on 27 June 1948 at the Autodromo di Ospadaletti, in Sanremo Italy. It was the 8th race of the 1948 Grand Prix season. The event was won by Alberto Ascari in a Maserati 4CLT/48, starting from pole position. Luigi Villoresi finished second in a Maserati 4CLT/48 and Clemar Bucci rouned out third in a Maserati 4CL 1502.

This was Alberto Ascari’s very first Grand Prix win!

This vintage original event poster features artwork by Jean Des Gachons of the Saint Gaudens circuit showing Grand Prix cars from the participating countries including Ascari in the Ferrari to the center. The poster is in excellent condition and measures about 25×18″ / 63x46cm.

The race was won by Alberto Ascari and Andre Simon in the Ferrari 500 ‘6’ in the seventh round (Grand Prix des Comminges) of the Grands Prix De France F2 Championship.

Ascari won the Gran Premio Ciudad de Buenos Aires January 30, 1949 in a Maserati 4CLT driving for Scuderia Ambrosiana.  At this race Ascari showed his prowess by achieving Pole Position and also recording a track record for the Palermo circuit, as well as besting the great Fangio on his home turf.

His words best describe his anxiety regarding the feat – When I succeeded in beating Fangio, I was really scared. Half a million spectators were watching the race and I knew I wasn’t their favourite. As I approached the finish line a crowd of people surged toward me. I had never seen anything like it! I thought they wanted to lynch me. As soon as I crossed the line I jumped out of the car, ran into one of the garages, jumped over a fence and crossed one, two, three tennis courts at such a speed you’d have thought I was still in the racing car. The crowd followed me shouting. I hid in a car and stayed there a good quarter-hour. Quite a lot of time passed before I realized that they only wanted to put me on their shoulders and carry me in triumph!

This vintage 11.5″ / 29cm tall original metal trophy is is inscribed with the main sponsor ‘Premio – Casa Belluni’ and stamped ‘Industria Argentina’. It is in fine condition but some of the gold plating has worn and tarnished over the last seven decades.  (CSA27)

This rare original poster features a fantastic impressionist rendition of a speeding racer by Spanish artist Garcia in vivid colors. It measures 29.5 x 21.5″ / 75x55cm and has been linen mounted which has diminished the original fold lines. The poster is in overall very good / excellent condition.

This was the 10th Pena Rhin and 7th Copa Barcelona, Spain and the race was a 1-2-3 victory for Ferrari led by Alberto Ascari in the Ferrari 375 F1, followed by Serafani and Taruffi.

These are original lenses worn by Ascari in 1954 at the Spanish GP at Barcelona. The matching envelope has been race dated  by Ascari in pencil. These yellow tinted lenses fit on his goggles and are bug splattered and dirty from use!

This original F2 trophy was awarded on September 10, 1950 to Ascari for winning the first heat in the Ferrari 166 F2 (time 1:24’58”) at the Circuit De Mettet in Belgium at I Grandee Trophée Entre Sambre et Meuse.  He also achieved fastest lap during the race.

This original Vermut Martini  cup was awarded to Ascari for achieving the fastest lap in the debut of Vittorio Jano’s masterpiece Lancia D50 at Barcelona.  The museum quality trophy measures 17″ tall with wooden base and bears a silver hallmark on the base rim.
