Rudolf Caracciola was the first non-Italian to win the famous road race at the 1931 Mille Miglia. Alongside his co-driver Wilhelm Sebastian, the Mercedes Benz works team driver won the 1,635km race, which took place from 12 to 13 April 1931, in a Mercedes-Benz SSKL racing car. This is a hand-built replica of a Granturismo  boat powered by a Ferrari F430 V8.

Piloted by Eugenio Molinari, it set two new world water speed records on Lake Como in Italy (Endurance Group B class S1 and S2).

The model hull is constructed of plantation acacia and the deck is joined by small poplar wood pieces and with mahogany like the original boat. Fittings, trimmings, steering wheels, switches, gauges, gear, rudder and propellers are made from brass chromed to look like stainless steel.
