1939 Grossglockner trophy – Mercedes Silver Arrow
This is the original trophy awarded to Hermann Lang for winning the famous German hillclimb – the Grossglockner mountain race. At that venue Lang drove the #128 ‘Silver Arrow’ Mercedes-Benz W125 5.6L to victory.
This rare bronze eagle trophy is large and heavy, measuring 26″ / 66 cm wide at the wings, and 16″ / 41cm tall including the marble base. It weighs about 55lbs / 25kgs! The bronze plaque bears the event date and appropriate logos, as well as the name Adolph Huhnlein, the president of motorsport in Germany at the time. It is in fine condition but with one minor chip to the attached marble base.
