1953 Mike Hawthorn helmet.
This super rare helmet was used by Mike from 1951-1953, including his famous win in the Ferrari 500 F2 at the 1953 French GP. Hawthorn gifted this Herbert Johnson helmet to his friend Lionel Clegg of Mintex who was responsible for brake development at Jaguar (XK120). Lionel had it repainted from blue to white and wore it for several years. This is all documented, the original blue paint can be seen under the brim. Also included is a letter from helmet manufacturer Herbert Johnson attesting that this is Mike’s property. To add to the incredible provenance, this helmet was on display at the Ferrari Galleria for several years! We have never seen another helmet from this ex Le Mans and F1 title winning driver….
This of course comes with our lifetime certificate.
