This rare original silvered bronze medal was awarded to Philippe Etancelin for taking first place in the #9 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 LM he co-drove with Luigi Chinetti to win Le Mans.

The large vintage bronze plaque measures around 9 x 7″ / 23 x 18cm and has a wonderful patina. It sits within a custom 12 x 10″ felt lined presentation box, and the last image below shows Robert Benoist holding a similar award within its box, right after his 1937 Le Mans victory in the Bugatti (we sold this winner’s medal years ago)!

At this historic 1934 event, Chinetti and Étancelin held on to win comfortably overall, with the second-biggest margin to date a 180 km /110 mile lead. On top of this, they used chewing gum to plug a puncture that developed in the fuel tank!

This rare original large format Italian ‘4 fogli’ poster was published for the 1980 documentary film about F1 World Champion Juan Manuel Fangio. The movie (One Life, One Legend) was directed by Hugh Hudson and starred Fangio as himself. The art on this Italian variant shows Fangio in the World Championship Alfa Romeo 158 / 159 flanked by Championship trophies.

This scarce poster is in very good condition, linen mounted, and measures a huge 6.5 feet tall (2×1.4m / 79×55″).

We have seen just three of these in 30 years!

This 50mm Stauffer, Son & Co. watch was worn by Bignami while driving the Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 at both his 1932 Mille Miglia win, and again in 1934 in the Alfa Romeo 8C 2600. It is most likely customized, having been converted from a stopwatch to a wristwatch for easier legibility, as wristwatches were not that large in those years.

As we purchased this directly from the family, it is accompanied by a specialized medallion that Bignami received during the MM race as well.

This uber rare vintage original poster is the only known example. The artwork by H.J. Moser shows a stylized Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza / P3 Tipo B leading a Bugatti Type 51 (T51). The large linen mounted poster measures over 3 feet tall (39.5×28″ – 100x71cm) and is in very fine condition with a minor tear that was repaired and some light restoration work to the top border. It was published by Denter & Nicolas in Berlin.

The event on July 17, 1932 was a total sweep for Alfa Romeo with Rudolf Caracciola winning, followed by Tazio Nuvolari & Mario Borzacchini, all driving an Alfa Romeo P3 Tipo B.

The 1932 event at the ‘Nurburg-Ring’ was the 5th event there, making this among the very first posters ever published for this historic race.

This an original 6 page brochure in English measures 21x27cm and features the following cars –

It is in good condition and stamped on the back in red ink “Olympia Auto Show Oct 15 – 24 1931” and “Received by N.A.C.C Nov 18 1931”. The front bears an ‘Alfa Romeo British Sales Ltd.’ dealer stamp.

This wonderful vintage original sign has a lovely patina. It is made from a light alloy (probably aluminum) that has been stamped and painted. What is rare is that it bears the Italian National Flags  to the bottom. This added detail helps date the sign (as well it matches the specific style of logo used by Alfa in that time period).

The large round sign measures 33.5″ / 84cm in diameter and is in lovely condition for its age but with signs of previous display.

This rare logo sign is very easy to hang on your garage wall or office and would make a stunning centerpiece over your 8C, 6C 2500, 1900, Giulia, GTA or other vintage or new Alfa.  (xk581Cx) (AL18)
