1954 Le Mans Win Trophy awarded to Jose Froilan Gonzalez & Maurice Trintignant
This original trophy was awarded to Gonzalez and Trintignant for achieving overall victory in their Ferrari 375 Plus s/n 0396AM. This large 33 lb / 15 kg museum quality silver cup trophy measures 15.5″ tall and 8.75″ wide at the marble base (40x22cm). The brass plaque on the solid marble base reads – 24 Heures Du Mans / 1954 / Au Vainqueurs / M Trintignant JF Gonzalez / Scuderia Ferrari. The silver plated brass cup is engraved with the sponsor Champagne Pommery / Reims France. A third bronze plaque has the A.C.O. logo.
Gonzalez earned a very special place in Ferrari history on this day as three years earlier he had scored Ferrari’s first F1 victory. Now, in his last appearance at La Sarthe, he also gave the second victory for the Scuderia Ferrari at Le Mans.
