1955 Italian GP at Monza winner’s trophy
Juan Manuel Fangio won the Gran Premio d’Italia on September 11, 1955 driving the Mercedes W196 Streamliner. This was the last GP before winning his third World Title in 1955 and the 17th victory of his career. At this race he achieved pole position and first place.
This is one of the only Fangio trophies we have seen outside of his museum in Argentina, and for a significant car, the Mercedes W196 Streamliner! The special Esso sponsored trophy is quite large at 28.5” tall with a 9.5” diameter wood base and weighs 11 lbs.
This is truly an exceptional piece of motorsport history. (xK53Ux)
