1949 Perpignan Grand Prix poster.
This rare original poster is very large, measuring 5 feet tall (45.5 x 60” / 115x152cm) and the vibrant artwork by G. Raspaut shows a speeding Maserati. It has been professionally linen mounted and is in very nice condition with minor restoration to one of the original fold lines towards the bottom. This lithograph was printed by Moullot, Marseille and is one of the few large format ones known.
This Grand Prix took place at the Circuit du Roussillon in France on May 8, 1949. The event was a complete domination by Maserati who took the first 6 places!
The race was won by Juan Manuel Fangio in Maserati 4CLT-48 s/n 1599 racing on behalf of the ‘Automovil Club Argentino’. Second place went to Prince Bira in 4CLT 48 s/n 1598.
