Description
1936 Lotteria di Tripoli event poster
This vintage original event poster is very large – over 4.5 feet tall (39×55” / 99x140cm ) and is in very good condition but with original fold lines that were minimized with linen mounting. The artwork by famous Italian designer ‘Martinati’ is of a stylized Maserati 8CM / 4C. This was printed in Rome and dated ‘1-2-1936’. The event was held in conjunction with the lottery in Libya and this was the 10th Grand Prix there.
The race was won by Achille Varzi in the Auto Union C-Type followed by Hans Stuck in the sister car. However it proved to be a gifted victory as Nuvolari raced with broken ribs yet still finished 8th in the Scuderia Ferrari Alfa Romeo P3 Tipo B.
