1948 San Remo Grand Prix poster
This rare vintage original measures over 3 feet tall (39.5 x 27.5” / 100 x 70cm). It has been linen mounted and is in very good condition but with some minor restoration. The artwork by Mario Puppo (1905 – 1977) features a stylized red GP car (likely a Ferrari or Maserati) exploding through the image.
The 1948 San Remo Grand Prix was a non-Championship voiturette motor race held on 27 June 1948 at the Autodromo di Ospadaletti, in Sanremo Italy. It was the 8th race of the 1948 Grand Prix season. The event was won by Alberto Ascari in a Maserati 4CLT/48, starting from pole position. Luigi Villoresi finished second in a Maserati 4CLT/48 and Clemar Bucci rouned out third in a Maserati 4CL 1502.
This was Alberto Ascari’s very first Grand Prix win!
