Description
1980s Ferrari Cartier watch
This rare automatic 18K gold & stainless steel watch is the among the last ones commissioned by Il Commendatore. Only 100 were made and none were sold commercially, they were gifted to special clients and friends of Enzo Ferrari, like Gianni Agnelli, Jean Todt, and Niki Lauda. We have one very clean example available with box and papers.
You cannot buy these anywhere; and this is one of only two we have ever seen!
The watch is a chrono with date and a moonphase in one of the three subdials. It is branded ‘Ferrari Formula’ by Cartier and is in excellent condition, complete with box, papers and guarantee card. The 40mm chronograph with date function utilizes the Swiss made Valjoux 7750 automatic movement. The case is in solid 18kt gold with stainless steel, and is water resistant.
This is expensive but much rarer and more historically significant than a modern day Girard-Perregaux, Panerai or Hublot co-branded Ferrari watch.
- This exact rare watch can be seen in the 1990 issue of Ferrari World, Volume 8. It is the perfect timepiece to wear in your 1980s era Ferrari 288 GTO or F40! In 1988 Enzo gave a very similar Cartier watch to the Pope. (ALN23) (CSM24)
